ECE Exodus - Working Draft Magazine

For this school assignment, we were tasked to come up with a story idea around the theme of movement, pitch the idea to a panel, interview people, do research, create our own multimedia, and write a 3000 word article to be published in Working Draft magazine. Inspired by my fiancé Meron, an ECE II, I chose to write my article about early childhood educators and why so many are leaving the field. I really wanted to feature the voices of ECEs in a conversation that is normally dominated by parents and government and bring the problems they face to light. I interviewed over 10 ECEs and chose three to feature: a current ECE student, an ECE who was thinking of leaving the field, and an ECE who had left the field. I took photos of them and created the header image using Canva. I also recorded and edited an audio version of the article.
